Phellodendron Bark

The characteristic features of the bark are its key identifying characteristics: the outer bark is thick, ranging from grayish-brown to dark gray, with a well-developed cork layer and deep longitudinal fissures; the inner bark is bright yellow and extremely bitter.

The medicinal part is the dried inner bark that is stripped from the tree.
