Danpi, officially known as Mudanpi in traditional Chinese medicine, is the dried root bark of the peony plant (Paeonia suffruticosa), belonging to the Ranunculaceae family and the Paeonia genus.

Product Details

Dried peony bark is mostly in the form of tubular or semi-tubular thin slices, 5–20 cm long, 0.5–1.2 cm in diameter, and 1–4 mm thick.

The outer surface is grayish-brown or yellowish-brown, with numerous transverse lenticel-like protrusions and fine root scars; the area where the cork has fallen off appears pinkish.
